Throughout June and July we would like to collect pictures/stories of your child putting into action “what in the world are you doing?” which is the theme that goes with the virtue RESPONSIBILITY.

The end goal is to use our God given resources, gifts and talents in a way that will show the world we love all God has given us and we want to  “Shine like Jesus to help others follow Him”

If possible email or send in a picture on Sunday of your child putting Bible Truths into action! Another option is to help them formulate a story to share that tells how they have proven faithful and why.

 Examples:

  • Action: Take care of what God made; do your part; do chores with cheerful attitude
  • Benefit: Please parents, show God you’re grateful
  • Take a picture of your child folding laundry, carrying recycling, or filling the dishwasher. Paste/Tape the picture on paper with a caption and send it in/ email it in. We will post this in the FTD.
  • Action: Make list of child’s  talents, skills, abilities; choose 1-2 , use to help someone this week
  • Benefit: Bless yourself & others
  • Take a picture of your child singing song for Grandma to bring her joy or…?
  •  Action: “Bite” tongue, stop, think of encouraging words instead; ask God for help
  • Benefit: Help others, not feel guilty
  • Take a picture of your child with your family and list the words your family will choose to use to encourage one another.

Other options are: Sign up for the Back Pack Give A Way held at the Rescue Mission  by contacting Deb Lee dlee8807@nycap.rr.com or 518 630-0038, Help your child earn allowance to bring in their own offering which will be given to the Arbor Hill Project this month. Want more info about the House on the Hill project or how you can help? Contact Curt Swanson: bcswanson@nycap.rr.com 518 365-3438

We will save a minute for DO TELL US during your child’s Large Group time and they can show or tell…

What in the World are you doing!

I have an article published in Leadership Journal’s Spring 2010 issue, titled The Dirt on Organic.  Although much more can always be said, this article is my best condensed version of the highs and lows of my time spent planting organic churches, prior to moving to the Capital District.  It’s also a great reflection of my love and hopes for small groups at Christ’s Church.

If you can’t get your hands on the print copy, they just released it online here.

Church Has Left The Building is a city-wide service day scheduled next for May 1-2 in New York’s Capital District. Christ’s Church of the Capital District, is spearheading the effort.

A variety of Churches combine their efforts to link members of their congregation/parish with partnering organizations to unleash compassion on their world. Church Has Left The Building schedules service days approximately twice a year, involving dozens of community service projects.

It’s a statement of Jesus’ love for the local community.

It’s a statement that Church is about much more than what goes on inside its own walls.

It’s a springboard for further ongoing involvement in community service.

Register this week!

Dear Christ’s Church Family,

If you missed services this morning, you missed the announcement of my resignation from the pastoral staff of Christ’s Church.  My resignation has nothing to do with a loss of love or value with our church family.  I think very highly of what God has/is doing with this congregation, and consider it an honor to have been pursuing life-change with Jesus, Church Family, and the World alongside you these past four years.

I have been offered a pastoral position with Brooklife Church of Mukwonago, WI, working with their small groups and executive administration.  This is a two year old church looking for a solid spiritual and administrative foundation for their future, and they believe my gifting would help them with just that.

An opportunity to continue my pastoral calling in close proximity to extended family is hard to pass up on during my present season of life.  My third child is due any day now, and both Melissa and I have parents back in Wisconsin dying to pour their love into all three of them.  My parents live 15 minutes, from the new church, and Melissa’s are within an hour.  I also have a sister that I haven’t seen in two years who will be returning from her work in Sudan.

My official end date with Christ’s Church has not been determined at this point, but in tentative terms I’m looking to transition at the end of June.

A number of you have extended love to us and our children just like we were your very own, and therefore this move will be anything but easy for us.  We love you with all our heart.

Sincerely,

Brian Hofmeister
